Vulture reported earlier today that as per its supply chain sources
Zack Snyder will direct his own, separate
Star Wars film, this one a remake of
Seven Samurai.
Disney is, therefore, developing new movies outside
the trilogy space, including a Zack Snyder's stand-alone Star Wars film inspired by
Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Snyder's upcoming film would be made sometime after Star Wars
Episode VII and it would take place in that post-
Return of the Jedi timeline.
According to the site the film will be:
‘…an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.'
1954 Japanese adventure drama Seven Samurai is one of
George Lucas' favorite flicks which fits right in with the mentality of the Jedi order. The story of a poor village under attack by bandits recruits seven unemployed samurai to help them defend themselves turns into a post-Vader world when seven
Jedi knights are asked to protect a village from some bad folks causing trouble.
The question is whether or not Snyder's Jedi carry just a single lightsaber or a long one and a short one, like samurai do.
How's this idea sound?
