Bates Motel, guess we're all excited about this show? Described as a mash up of
Twin Peaks and
Smallville, and inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's
Psycho, the upcoming drama television series will finally debut this month on
A&E. As you already see from our title – today we're here to share
the first six minutes of the whole thing, as well as some pretty cool posters, so what can I tell you guys – check them all out & enjoy!

Created by
Anthony Cipriano and produced by
Carlton Cuse and
Kerry Ehrin,
Bates Motel takes a look into the early years of famed psycho Norman Bates. Described as a mash up of
Twin Peaks and
Smallville, the show pulls us into the twisted and macabre world of Norman and his mother Norma.

In other words, the show explores the formative years of Norman Bates, played by
Freddie Highmore and his relationship with his overbearing mother Norma, played by
Vera Farmiga.

According to Cuse,
Bates Motel is not exactly an homage to
Psycho, the idea of the show will be how Norman becomes the guy depicted in the 1960 Hitchcock film. Or, as he explained:
This is a tragedy, it's a fantastic dramatic form. We want the audience to fall in love with these characters, particularly Norman. That tension of knowing what their fate is and how they get there was something we thought was really telling.

Beside Farmiga and Highmore,
Bates Motel cast also includes
Max Thieriot,
Nicola Peltz,
Olivia Cooke,
Nestor Carbonell and
Mike Vogel, and as we said –
Bates Motel premieres at 10 p.m. Monday, March 18th, 2013.
