Back in 2007, Mark Sinclair Vincent aka
Vin Diesel announced that he was working on his directorial debut
Hannibal the Conqueror, a film about the life of Carthaginian military commander Hannibal Barca, which will be made in the original Punic language.
The concept about Hannibal of Chartage was supposed to be a trilogy charting both Hannibal's war efforts and those of his father, Hamilcar Barca, who led the Carthaginian forces during the First Punic War.
Diesel put up a post on his
Facebook page this weekend that his long-awaited project is close to moving forward at a mystery studio that is keen on making all three films in his trilogy:
When a dream is born in your childhood…When you spend a decade daring to pursue it…
The day, a head of a studio says… ‘I want to make all three films of your Hannibal trilogy!'
Haha…It takes a minute to sink in…Shhhhh… it's still sinking in.
You just need to take what you find with a grain of salt because no other information was forthcoming. Diesel who will next be seen next year in the third film in his Chronicles of
Riddick trilogy as well as Fast & Furious 6 may now just be starring in the films, while a more experienced director is brought onto the project.
If he wants to star in it, it had better happen soon, before he grows too old to play the part as what has happened to
Denzel Washington who was interested in the role, before Diesel.
