Check this out –
Gina Gershon is set to play an Italian fashion designer and current Vice-President of the
Versace Group Donatella Versace in Lifetime's original movie titled
House of Versace. But that's not all, we've just learned that
Raquel Welch and
Enrico Colantoni are also on board for the upcoming biopic. Sounds promising? Sure, why not…
At this moment we know that
Sara Sugarman is set to direct the movie from a script written by
Rama Stagner, which is based on
Deborah Ball‘s book
House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder.
According to the latest reports, the movie will track Donatella's struggle to take over her brother's fashion empire after his 1997 slaying.
Or, if you prefer:
The film will tackle her battle with drug addiction and the fashion house's failing fortunes, her stint in rehab and subsequent renewed sense of purpose, which built the brand into the lucrative and respected empire it is today. House of Versace shows how Gianni Versace, with his flamboyant sister Donatella at his side, combined his virtuosic talent and extraordinary ambition to almost single-handedly create the celebrity culture we take for granted today.
Beside Gershon, the rest of
House of Versace cast includes
Enrico Colantoni as Donatella's late brother Gianni Versace,
Colm Feore as their older brother Santo, and
Raquel Welch as their Aunt Lucia.
House of Versace will premiere Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime. Following the premiere, Lifetime will air the hour-long documentary
Versace: Beyond the Headlines, about Versace's start and rise in the fashion business.
We'll keep an eye on this movie, make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
