I get bored easily. And somehow, this boring-mania usually starts with the Film Festivals, because then I have an obligation to watch all those boring trailers, read boring synopsis, write something boring about the movies, and so on…
But it looks that this year, that won't be a case. At least, the first trailer for
Vincent Paronnaud &
Marjane Satrapi's
Chicken With Plums shows there's a hope for the upcoming
Venice Film Festival.

Chicken With Plums or in the original
Poulet aux prunes is actually an adaptation of a 2004 graphic novel by Iranian author Marjane Satrapi. Yeah, yeah, the whole world is now interested in that graphic novel thing, so that means I'm talking about a live action adaptation again.
But what the hell, this trailer looks great and you should definitely check it out.
Little trailer spoiler: the real fun starts right after
Mathieu Amalric slams the door at 00:38.

Here's the synopsis part: Tehran 1958. Nasser Ali Khan, the most celebrated violin player, has his beloved instrument broken. Unable to find another to replace it, life without music seems intolerable.
He can't conceive of life without the consolation of music, and soon finds that he can't get out of bed, where he lies locked both in dreams about his childhood and projections of his own children's futures. His reveries lay somewhere between fantasy and oblivion, and quickly assemble into a kind of thriller, riddled with flashbacks and flash-forwards (as well as a vision of a naked Sophia Loren), that illuminates his peculiar persona and the source of his despair.

Vincent Paronnaud & Marjane Satrapi are already very well know for their debut – an animated feature –
Persepolis which won the 2007 Jury Prize in Cannes and a pair of Cesars in France. It also was nominated for both Golden Globe and Oscar.
Chicken With Plums stars
Mathieu Amalric, Jamel Debbouze, Golshifteh Farahani, Edouard Baer, Chiara Mastroianni, Isabella Rossellini and
Eric Caravaca and I really wish them all good luck at this year's Venice Film Festival – In Competition, yes!
