Mark Waters (
Mean Girls helmer) stands behind the upcoming fantasy adventure, which is based on the
Richelle Mead‘s best-selling novel of the same name.
The movie will revolve around Rose Hathaway, a
Dhampir. In case you forgot, Dhampirs are half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world.
Rose's legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, known as the Strigoi.

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school-it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them.
