Sony Pictures has hired two new writers to adapt “
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune,” a movie based on PlayStation 3 hit video game, into a theatrical feature, reports
Latino Review.
It was previously announced that
Kyle Ward (Hitman 2) was writing the script for the action-adventure, but apparently that deal never went through.
Joshua Oppenheimer and
Thomas Dean Donnelly are set to pen the film adaptation. They have previously penned “Sahara” and are the writers on the upcoming “Dead of Night” and “Conan” adaptations.
The story follows a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is ratcheted up several notches when creatures — actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis — begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets.
