MIB3 star,
Tommy Lee Jones, another of my favorite actors is in final negotiations to play an FBI agent in
Luc Besson‘s darkly comedic actioner
Malavita.
Besson is lining up an impressive cast —
Robert De Niro and
Michelle Pfeiffer are already attached to star as a married couple with Mafia ties who relocate to France under the witness protection program.
Jones would play De Niro's ‘stern handler in the FBI-sponsored program.' In other words, he's tasked with checking in on the family and helping them assimilate to their new life in France.
Besson and
Michael Caleo (The Sopranos) have adapted Tonino Benacquista‘s novel, ‘Badfellas,' and De Niro, Pfeiffer, and Jones will try to make it a fun time.
Malavita starts production in August in advance of its 2013 release date.
Jones next stars opposite Meryl Streep in Sony's Hope Springs and also co-stars in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln and Peter Webber's Emperor; moreover, Jones is set to write, direct, produce and star in the indie period piece The Homesman.
Stay tuned.
