The Hangover director
Todd Phillips is set to direct an adaptation of Linwood Barclay thriller novel titled
Trust Your Eyes. Yes, thriller novel, no comedy for Phillips this time! As the matter of fact, the whole thing is already described as a cross between Hitchcock's
Rear Window and Barry Levinson's
Rain Man, so let's give him a chance!
So, what's so special about this story? First of all we have a schizophrenic, map-obsessed savant Thomas Kilbride who witnesses a murder online on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
On the other hand we have his older brother Ray, who investigates that murder, and that means just one thing – a total mess.
The siblings will soon cross paths with a politically-connected ex-cop and his ice pick-wielding henchwoman, who are themselves scrambling to clean up after a high-stakes screwup.
Phillips who's currently working on
The Hangover Part III will also produce
Trust Your Eyes together with Dan Lin, while Scott Budnick of Phillips' Green Hat Films banner will exec produce.
