Tim Burton’s Addams Family Adaptation Still Moving Forward
Just in case you were worried about this project, we'll repeat again, things are moving forward! Stay calm!
Back in March we shared the latest rumor with you, the one that sounded like this – Tim Burton will direct a stop-motion animated film based on Charles Addams' original ghoulish cartoon drawings of The Addams Family.
Then we had a chance to hear: “Tim hasn't lined up any of his projects”, and today we're here to say that Burton might direct a new “Addams Family” after all. And, before you all say – Thanks for nothing, check out the rest of this report…
Producer Christopher Meledandri said: “It's all very, very early, but we are developing with Tim Burton directing in mind…We're just now at the story phase. Stuff has been written as though we are doing it in black and white, but that's not correct. It's not incorrect, but it's not correct. We haven't gotten to that point.”
He confirmed previous reports that the new Addams Family will be based on the original Charles Addams drawings and comics from “The New Yorker” and not the subsequent television series or the film adaptations thereof.
He also added that the film is planned for stop motion and not for computer animation! Now that's what we call a good decision!
Correct or incorrect, we like the fact that The Addams Family new adaptation is moving forward, and we're hoping to hear more details about it as soon as possible.
If you share our excitement about this one, make sure you stay tuned!
