Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland) is developing another live-action/CG feature film, this time based on the classic Disney animation – “
Sleeping Beauty” fairy tale.
According to
AICN, the Burton is planning to tell the classic story through the eyes of villian
Maleficent, the self-proclaimed “Mistress of Evil” in the 1956 Walt Disney adaptation. Maleficent was always the most interesting character in that story, but we never knew why she hated those three little fairy wenches… or what indignity she suffered at the hands of Aurora's parents.”
The Disney version centres on Princess Aurora.
Sounds like an interesting take on a classic story. The article also says it could be Burton's next film, since what was believed to be his next movie, “Dark Shadows,” was said to be “stumbling a bit.”
Tim Burton's latest movie, “Alice In Wonderland” is scheduled to open in IMAX and conventional theaters on March 5, 2010.

Just as long as Helena Bonnam Carter (sp?) does not play her. I’m tired of seeing her in everything Tim Burton does. He needs to branch out. I think Angelica Huston would be a much better fit for the role. She has the magestic yet evil quality and would be amazing in this part.
