Following the news that
Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-directors
Anthony and
Joe Russo were tapped to return for
Captain America 3, comes word that Marvel Studios has also hired
Craig Kyle and
Christopher Yost to co-write the third
Thor installment.
Yost polished up the script for
Thor: The Dark Word, along with
Christopher Markus and
Stephen McFeely, while Kyle served as an executive producer for a sequel to Thor so he'll make a complete career transition to a full-time screenwriter this time.
Marvel ‘s head honcho,
Kevin Feige who will produce the film, said in a statement:
I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure.
Meanwhile, Hit Fix floats the idea of “Loki in the guise of Odin” attempting to bring about the end of the world. Could we be looking at
Thor: Ragnarok as a possible title and could the third film find Thor having to fight against the realm that he's spent so much time defending?
If nothing else, for right now, we know
Thor 3 is coming (on July 8th, 2016, or May 6th, 2016 or, maybe, on July 8, 2017?).
Chris Hemsworth is expected to return.
