Danish director
Susanne Bier is attached to direct the upcoming big screen adaptation of
Helen Schulman‘s novel
This Beautiful Life!
In a Better World helmer has signed on to direct
a story for our times for Killer Films and Glass Elevator Media, which means that we'll soon have a chance to watch an intelligent, complex, but at its core, emotional and universal movie. So far – so good!
Killer and
Glass Elevator have joined with a group of private investors to develop the feature film. Bier will direct the whole thing from a script written by
Helen Schulman, which is described as a devastating, clear-eyed portrait of modern life.
In case you want more details about the story, here's the official description of Schulman's novel:
When fifteen-year-old Jake Bergamot receives – and then forwards to a friend – a sexually explicit video that an eighth-grade admirer sent to him, the video goes viral within hours. The scandal that ensues threatens to shatter his family's sense of security and identity, and, ultimately, their happiness.
We're definitely interested in this adaptation, so with every new update – we'll be back!
In the meanwhile, let us remind you that
Susanne Bier‘s latest film
Serena, with
Bradley Cooper and
Jennifer Lawrence, is set to open this September!
