Nothing to be surprised about –
Keira Knightley is set to star in yet another period drama film, titled
The Other Typist. The whole thing is an adaptation of
Suzanne Rindell‘s novel of the same name, which revolves around a lonely typist in a police precinct who strikes up a friendship with her mysterious co-worker and then… well, let's just say: get ready for more
roaring 20's guys!
So, Fox Searchlight has acquired the rights to Rindell's debut novel which is described as a deliciously addictive, cinematically influenced page-turner, both comic and provocative.
It follows a lonely and isolated typist in a police precinct named Rose, who strikes up a friendship with a beautiful and mysterious co-worker who introduces her to the glamorous and forbidden underworld of 1920s New York.
In case you want more details, here's the official description of the novel:
This is a new era for women, and New York is a confusing place for Rose. Gone are the Victorian standards of what is acceptable. All around her women bob their hair, they smoke, they go to speakeasies. Yet prudish Rose is stuck in the fading light of yesteryear, searching for the nurturing companionship that eluded her childhood. When glamorous Odalie, a new girl, joins the typing pool, despite her best intentions Rose falls under Odalie's spell. As the two women navigate between the sparkling underworld of speakeasies by night and their work at the station by day, Rose is drawn fully into Odalie's high-stakes world. And soon her fascination with Odalie turns into an obsession from which she may never recover…
The project will be overseen by Searchlight's senior vp production
Zola Mashariki and director of production
DanTram Nguyen, while Knightley will also serve as a producer.
As usual – we'll keep an eye on
The Other Typist, so make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
