A full-length international trailer for
Wong Kar-Wai's upcoming film
The Grandmaster has been released. After five years in the making, and almost a year and a half since we got a teaser trailer, the martial arts project about Ip Man looks stunning.
Though the trailer is in Chinese the film looks like it has visuals as impressive as the kung-fu fighting within. An outstanding foreign film that deserves some attention starring
Tony Leung Chiu Wai and
Zhang Ziyi, tells the story of Ip Man (Tony Leung), who is best known as the trainer of legendary star Bruce Lee.
Kar-Wai's first action movie since his 1994 film Ashes of Time will be released in his native Hong Kong and will get a December 18th release in China, but has no American release date. Its international distribution rights are held by Annapurna Pictures, so it wouldn't be unrealistic to expect a late fall release.
A supporting cast boasts
Chang Chen, Cung Le, Bruce Leung Siu Lung, Wang Qingxiang and
Hye-kyo Song with
Philippe Le Sourd (Seven Pounds) serving as director of photography from a story by Kar Wai.
