Following the two character posters, Universal Pictures has released the new trailer for
Seth Gordon's upcoming comedy
Identity Thief.
Previously titled ID Theft, the film is obviously on a serious business of identity theft, which cause immense emotional and psychological distress, but if your identity is stolen by
Melissa McCarthy, it can also lead to getting punched in the throat.
The film also stars
Jason Bateman who reunites with his Horrible Bosses director Gordon as McCarthy character's hapless victim who decides that he's going to bring her down.
Written by
Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness) with subsequent rewrites by
Craig Mazin (Hangover 2 and 3) the film also stars
Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip ‘T.I.' Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick, and
Eric Stonestreet.
The studio had set a May 2013 release date for Identity Thief, but recently the comedy has been moved up to February 8th, 2013.
As for McCarthy, she is slated to star along Sandra Bulock in as yet untitled buddy cop comedy, while Bateman has been keeping busy with TV show Arrested Development.

Here's the official synopsis:
Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There's only one glitch: The ID she's using to finance these sprees reads ‘Sandy Bigelow Patterson' … and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.
With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.
