Richard Ayoade‘s upcoming
dramedy The Double is not exactly a completely fresh project, but who cares – we finally have the first images from the whole thing to share! And, another good news is that the movie will have it's world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, so I guess we'll pretty soon have an official trailer (or clip) to add.

Based on
Fyodor Dostoyevsky‘s novella of the same name,
The Double stars
Jesse Eisenberg as a man who goes mad after finding out his life has been usurped by a
doppelgänger.

Or, if you prefer – Eisenberg plays a government clerk named Simon whose life is destroyed after what he believes to be an exact copy of himself begins working in his office and attempts to ruin his life.
Sounds weird,
or what?

You have nothing to worry about, they already say that Ayoade's movie intends it to reflect on loneliness and our inherent need to love and be loved. And there's nothing weird about that, right?

Anyway, here's the official synopsis for the movie:
Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite – confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.
Beside Eisenberg, the rest of
The Double cast includes
Mia Wasikowska,
Wallace Shawn and
Noah Taylor.
As usual – click on all these images to enlarge, and don't forget – the 38th
Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 5 to 15, 2013.
