All the children are gone… Except one. I just saw the first trailer and poster for the upcoming gothic horror
The Awakening, and I'm not sure what to think about it.
I'm a little tired of all those ghost-stories, unexplained, paranormal phenomena, and so on… But at least no zombies and vampires this time! So, thank you for that, director
Nick Murphy!
So, in case you're horror fans, I'm sure you'll be happy to see this 2-minute preview of the story which is set in London in 1919, and centers on Florence Cathcart who has devoted her career to exposing claims of the supernatural as nothing but hoaxes.
Haunted by the recent death of her fiance, she is approached by Robert Mallory to investigate the recent death of a student at the all-boys boarding school where he teaches.
When students at the school report sightings of the young boy's ghost, she decides to take on the case. Initially, the mystery surrounding the ghost appears nothing more than a schoolboy prank, but as Florence continues to investigate events at the school, she begins to believe that her reliance on science may not be enough to explain the strange phenomenon going on around her.
The poster looks good, and as you already see, The Awakening has quite interesting cast on board which includes
Rebecca Hall as the lead, together with
Dominic West and
Imelda Staunton.
The movie opens on August 17th, 2012.
