You will like the fact that things with
J.J. Abrams'
Star Trek 2 are moving on (again). You will hate the fact that filming on this sequel officially starts on January 15, 2012 for a 2013 release. So basically some of us will be old ladies causing trouble in nursing homes, but at least 2013 promises us a lot of big-screen fun?
What a relief!
When it comes to Star Trek 2 the update comes from TrekMovie who learned that the official start date for production on the Star Trek sequel is January 15th, 2012. We already know that Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof have been working on 3rd draft of the script, we know that the screenplay has been submitted to Paramount Pictures, we know that all the main cast of the first film (Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin) will return. So why the hell is everything with this movie going so slow?
Never mind, let's continue with this exclusive news. Apparently, Abrams traveled to Hawaii to scout a location which is being seriously considered for a jungle planet. On the other hand, shooting will also include a museum in Los Angeles standing in for what above mentioned source said was
a famous Star Trek location. As per usual with a Star Trek film, studio shooting will take place on a number of stages on the Paramount lot.
Also, the good thing is that much of the design work for the film has been completed, with the team again headed by Scott Chambliss as production designer. When it comes to the possible plot – still no details, although it is described as
bigger in scope than the 2009 Star Trek film.
You can open a bottle of champagne now.
