The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is almost upon us, and if the newly released trailer is any indication, fans are in for an epic farewell. Premiering on October 24th on Paramount+, this hit animated series is wrapping up with a ten-episode run, with the first two episodes debuting together and the rest airing weekly through the series finale on December 19th. Known for its mix of sharp humor and deep love for Star Trek lore, Lower Decks has always offered a unique perspective on Starfleet life, and it looks like this season will take that to new heights.

The U.S.S. Cerritos crew is tasked with closing subspace rifts (space potholes) that are wreaking havoc across the Alpha Quadrant. However, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Between the Orion war, unruly Klingons, diplomatic disasters, and even a few murder mysteries, the Cerritos crew has its hands full. The trailer also teases the return of Star Trek: Voyager's Ensign Harry Kim, played once again by Garrett Wang, who appears in a hilarious sequence involving multiple copies of himself.
There's a lot of fan service packed into the trailer, including clever nods to Star Trek: Enterprise's infamous decontamination chamber and a massive battle with a Borg cube. With this being the final season, it feels like the creators are pulling out all the stops to deliver both an action-packed and emotionally satisfying conclusion.
This season promises the perfect balance of chaos and comedy that fans have come to love. Are you excited to see how the Cerritos crew handles their final mission? And what do you think about Harry Kim's return?
