The fifth and final season of “Star Trek: “Discovery” will conclude this week with Paramount+ releasing the trailer for the 90-minute finale episode of the show that started the modern wave of Trek series.
Called “Life, Itself,” the episode is a chase where Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) tries to catch Moll (Eve Harlow) through the portal opened in the previous episode.
On that note, they have landed in a world where the Progenitors reside but the trailer has some parts of the aesthetic obscured. At the same time, acting Captain Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) drives himself to the rescue as the Breen bears down on her.
This could be one of the final appearances of actors such as Doug Jones as Saru, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Hugh Culber, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, David Ajala as Book, and Blu del Barrio as Adira Tal – although another appearance in the “Starfleet Academy” series may not be out of the question given that this show is set in the same timeframe.
This comes at a time when Nielsen reveals that the season's fifth episode, titled “Mirrors,” was viewed for 285 million minutes in its release week. That's the best-ranked episode so far this season, even outpacing the penultimate episode of the final season of “Star Trek: Star Trek Chief Medical Officer, “Picard”.
The “Discovery” finale is set to drop on the Paramount+ streaming service on May 30.
