Imagine this:
Jason Statham as a recovering gambler-turned bodyguard and
Sofia Vergara as his…well,
friend. Apparently, Vergara is in some serious talks to join Statham in the upcoming
modernized version of the 1986 Burt Reynolds action movie
Heat, which comes from director
Simon West. And we have nothing against this decision!
So, as you already know, the movie is actually an adaptation of
William Goldman‘s novel (just like the original pic) and West will direct the whole thing from Goldman's script which centers on:
…Nick Escalante, a recovering gambler-turned-hired bodyguard working in Vegas who decides to help a friend after she is attacked by the mob, but gets in over his head as he seeks revenge.
Statham is on board to play that Escalante guy, while Vergara (fingers crossed) will come on board to play the female lead, aka his friend.
Statham and Steve Chasman will produce through
Chasman's SJ Pictures, and the good thing is that
Cory Yuen, who co-directed
The Transporter will reunite with Statham as the action director/fight choreographer.
Which means – action is guaranteed!
Stay tuned for more!
