Luis Guzman, who became a household name from playing wacky characters, through his work with directors like Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Soderbergh, Guzman has provided the potential to do great things.
Now he's suiting up as a Lucha Libre wrestler in
Aztec Warrior,
Scott Sanders' next flick.
Co-penned by Sanders and
Don Handfield, Aztec Warrior is based on a story by Handfield and Javier Chapa, set in the world of Mexican professional wrestling, of course; Guzman will be playing the title Warrior, who is involved in a heated rivalry with another luchador named El Diablo to be played by Mexican comedian
Eugenio Derbez.
Already set for supporting roles are
Terry Crews, Nadine Velazquez (My Name is Earl), and Desperate Housewives' Lupe Ontiveros.
Sanders' first film since Black Dynamite (2010) begins shooting in New Orleans in July.
And of course, stay tuned for more exciting details.
