Last month we reported that
Luke Evans is set to play the male lead in
Gary Shore‘s upcoming
Dracula movie (originally titled
Dracula: Year Zero). Today comes the word that
A Dangerous Method star
Sarah Gadon is in some serious talks to play a female lead in the whole thing. Simple question: sounds great, or what?
Let us once again remind you that
Gary Shore will direct the movie from a script written by
Matt Sazama and
Burk Sharpless and the story (which is a mix of mythology and history) will revolve around Prince Vlad, the inspiration for the Dracula character popularized by the
Bram Stoker novel.
In other words, the movie will center on Evans' character:
…a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.
Alissa Phillips will serve as exec producer and creative executive Jay Polidoro will oversee the project for Universal.
Dracula is already set to open on August 8th, 2014.
