Yes, it happened —
Sacha Baron Cohen showed up at the 2012 Oscars in a white Rolls-Royce stretch limo with green Republic of Wadiya flags!
If you didn't see him alive, true to his word Baron Cohen arrived on red carpet with military suit, Castro beard and Kim Jong Il's oversized glasses as the kind of parody he plays in his upcoming film,
The Dictator.
Flanked by two sexy female bodyguards, he jokingly claimed to be carrying the ashes of the late North Korean leader, whose face was displayed on a fake gold funereal urn.
In an interview with E! host, Ryan Seacrest, he told that it was Jong Il's dream:
to be sprinkled over the red carpet and over Halle Berry's chest.
Then, he ‘accidentally' spilled the ashes over Seacrest's tuxedo.
It was the final moment in a battle of the wills with the Academy, which Baron Cohen (whose film Hugo also won five Oscars, all in technical categories) — ultimately won.
Now when people ask who you are wearing, you will say Kim Jong-il!
Sacha deadpanned to TV presenter. Seacrest could only reply that he had a feeling something was coming. After that, security muscled Baron Cohen away.
In case you were wondering, The Dictator's socks are from Kmart, an Australia's home of low prices, as Saddam Hussein once told him:
Socks are socks. Don't waste money.
