After stylish neo-noir film Drive and almost completed Thai-boxing thriller Only God Forgives, the long-developing
Logan's Run remake would have to mark third reunion between
Ryan Gosling and
Nicolas Winding Refn.
It looks like that bromance will be taking a break as Variety's Justin Kroll has
tweeted that Gosling has left the remake of a 1976 dystopian film.
Rough news for those LOGAN'S RUN fans, I can confirm Ryan Gosling is no longer attached to the project.
Busy schedules are one reason why Gosling departed the sci-fi project as he's planning a spring start date for his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster and he's also been eyed by his Crazy, Stupid, Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to reunite with his co-star Emma Stone in their next film.
The other might be that Warner Bros. want a more bankable, internationally friendly name as Gosling has never opened a blockbuster before.
Or maybe at age 31, Gosling is just too old now – the film follows the world of 2116, when a person's maximum age is strictly legislated: twenty one years and when people reach this age they are willingly executed.
Whatever the reason, Gosling can be seen next in Gangster Squad and is currently filming an untitled film for director Terrence Malick with Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender and Rooney Mara.
