Ok, we already had a little chat about the upcoming
Tom Hooper‘s musical adaptation of
Victor Hugo's
Les Misérables. So, by now you all know that
Hugh Jackman is currently in negotiations to play Jean Valjean, right?
And we all agreed that sounds awesome. But that's not all guys! According to the latest reports, another great name is interested to star in the whole thing as well! That is – Mr.
Russell Crowe!
That's exactly what guys from Playlist report, that Crowe is apparently “keen” to play Inspector Javert, character described as “the dogged policeman who makes it his mission to expose Jackman's reformed ex-convict Valjean.”
I must admit this sounds interesting, but is this really going to happen – I have no idea. I mean, Crowe is quite busy guy these days, he's already attached to star in RZA's upcoming kung-fu project
The Man With Iron Fists as well as in Zack Snyder's
The Man of Steel.
On the other hand, one thing is for sure. Hugh Jackman is definitely on board as Jean Valjean, the man who steals bread to feed his sister and spends the ensuing years in prison (or trying to escape it) while also becoming the guardian of a young woman named Cosette, all against the backdrop of the French Revolution.
At the end, let us remind you that Oscar winning director Tom Hooper will direct from a script by
William Nicholson, while Mackintosh will produce along with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner through Working Title Films.
As we previously reported, the intention is to begin production before year's end, somewhere in Europe.
What do you think about Russell Crowe's involvement in
Les Miserables? Let us know, and stay with us!
Oh, please, get your information right. “Les Miserables” is not set during the French Revolution, but bw 1815-1832. Valjean steals bread to feed his sister’s dying son, and doesn’t escape prison in the musical, he jumps parole. I know that sounds like petty details, but they’re all easily checked and make me wonder about your other “facts.”
Well, Russel is an amazing actor obviously. But can he sing? the songs in les miserables are very technical,
