Russell Brand is attached to star in
The President Stole My Girlfriend project for Warner Bros. I actually like this title although I'm not quite sure the story is as exciting as this title. But let's give a try to writer Matt Portenoy! After all, this story is his first major sale. Man previously did a rewrite on the remake of
Porky's, and also wrote a segment for
Movie 43.
And now, a few words about that excitement. Brand revealed that in this movie he'll play a sexy hippie who somehow manages to get his girlfriend stolen by the president. Whatever that means. Brand also added that it was inspired by the night he naively invited Warner's president Jeff Robinov for dinner.
In addition to this casting news, Brand will also produce the comedy with his Branded Films partner Nik Linnen, with the company's Beau Bauman exec producing.
For all Brand's fans out there, let me just remind you he'll next appear in New Line's adaptation of
Rock of Ages and is also set to star alongside
Julianne Hough in
Diablo Cody's still untitled directorial debut.
So, yes, we'll be hearing a lot from Russell Brand in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
