Rodney Rothman, well known author, television producer, and screenwriter seems to be very busy guy lately.
He was in charge as an executive producer and writer for the 2009
The Year One and this year’s
Get Him to the Greek, but he still has time to share some details about his upcoming projects: the space horror-comedy titled
The Something and
Dog of the South – which he’s doing with Bill Hader and Greg Mottola.
Steve from
Collider.com had some interesting conversation with Rothman, and found out some details about these movies.
As we mentioned, The Something is a space horror-comedy “about four guys in space who have been there for five years and hate each other and it kind of becomes Alien.”
What Rothman plans to do, is to cast “a couple of the really funny actors I know and then a couple other left-field actors. And they basically end up boarding a ship that has women on it. It’s the first time they’ve seen women in five years. And then shit just goes crazy.”
He added he’s talking to directors and he’s hoping to make it next year at Universal. On the other hand, there’s other one, with title Dog of the South, the project which he is doing with Bill Hader and director Greg Mottola, that he called a “madcap road movie about a guy chasing his ex-wife through Central America,” with Hader to play “a guy from Arkansas who’s really tightly-wound who kind of drove his wife away and then goes on a quest to get her back but he claims that he’s on a quest to get his car back since she takes his car, which is like a Ford Tornio and it’s his favorite possession.”
It’s nice to hear that Rothman is so enthusiastic about his plans, so we hope you enjoyed this news.
That’s why we’re going to finish this report with Rothman’s words: “I’m super-psyched about that movie and I think it’s going to be awesome” We’ll keep an eye on your work Rothman!
