Paul Walker is cast as the main character in
Pawn Shop Chronicles, a new thriller that
Fred Durst will direct.
William Frederick “Fred” Durst, a musician, director and actor, known primarily as the frontman of the band Limp Bizkit, was previously directed
The Longshots (2008) which grossed over $4 million in its opening week.
The
Pawn Shop Chronicles was written by
Adam Minarovich, who at one point worked in a pawn shop in North Caroline.
Mimran Schur Pictures' Jordan Schur and David Mimran are producing, along with
Steven Schneider and Durst, putting their money in the hands of the forever young Paul Walker's charm.
Jordan Schur is calling the script,
fast-moving and action-packed. It's also very funny. It's got all these elements to really pack a punch. This is a hillbilly Pulp Fiction.”
Indeed, the interrelated stories comprise the plot structure of this film, centering on a lost wedding ring which leads to a wild goose running concerning skinheads and an Elvis imitator.
Paul William Walker IV, who subsequently returned to
The Fast and the Furious, next stars in
Fast Five, the latest installment of Universal's franchise. Walker appeared with
T.I., Idris Elba, Chris Brown, Matt Dillon, and
Hayden Christensen in the crime drama
Takers, which began filming in early September 2008 and was released in August 2010.
The plan for the
Pawn Shop Chronicles is to begin production this spring in Michigan.
It will be fun to see how this story all plays out. Durst and Walker working together could be a good combination.
