I'm thrilled to introduce Sergio Grisanti to the world – that's exactly what Guillermo del Toro had to say about the latest IMAX poster for his upcoming movie. And as you're about to see, the whole thing definitely looks fantastic (safe to say it has nothing to do with the rest of the Pacific Rim marketing). Head inside to take a better look & let us know what you think!
First of all, let me remind you that Pacific Rim is set to hit theaters next month, and that fans will receive the poster by attending the first IMAX screenings for the film on July 12th, 2013 (click here to check if your local theater is participating in the IMAX Fanfix poster series).
We already wrote so much about del Toro's upcoming sci-fi spectacle, so I'm sure you all know that the story is set in the near future where soldiers pilot giant robots into battle against invading giant monsters who have risen from beneath the ocean.
The movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky and Max Martini.
In case you've missed our previous reports, now is the perfect moment to check the latest TV spot, featurette, poster, more character posters and images from the whole thing.
And, at the end of this report, here's the rest of Del Toro's announcement:
For years he has been a highly respected commercial artist. When I was first exposed to his art for ‘Pacific Rim,' I knew instantly that he was a powerhouse of talent. He created the Jaeger posters/card art we used at WonderCon. Without any hesitation I asked him to create this new Imax Fanfix art. Look at it closely – with a magnifying glass! So much going on! Such power! Such beauty! Sergio loves his Kaijus and his Mecha, and it shows. The poster, like my film, is a tribute to well-loved things. I wish all the fans the best time at the first Imax screenings of ‘Pacific Rim.' Enjoy!
