Out of My Mind, based on Sharon M. Draper's celebrated novel, is now out with the trailer and poster for Disney+'s adaptation, which appears to be scheduled to debut November 22, 2024. The film, with Jennifer Aniston, Judith Light and newcomer Phoebe-Rae Taylor, follows the tale of Melody Brooks, a girl ending her first year of sixth grade as she works through the trials of cerebral palsy.

That point is a non-verbal, wheelchair using girl named Melody (Taylor) with a photographic memory and a sharp intellect at its center. The trailer perfectly reflects her trying to be heard and seen, despite society's views of her disability. Melody is voiced by Aniston who portrays movingly her untapped potential. With the help of a caring teacher (Judith Light), implantation of assistive voice technology, and a thoughtful design of what she brings to the table in Ashland, Melody embarks on a journey of a lifetime, that places a new, better understanding of her in the eyes of others.

It's also got heartwarming themes of empowerment and myriad buzz for the way it depicts disability authentically. Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Kirby and Michael Chernus bring a great deal of emotional gravity to the story with their cast.
Out of My Mind does not excel in new formula but lays quality, sincere and grounded storytelling upon its offerings. It is Sealey's direction that keeps it from becoming too sentimental and Daniel Stiepleman's screenplay maintains respect for the message of the source material: resilience. This is a film you should mark November 22 on your calendar.
