Noomi Rapace in Sherlock Holmes 2
Swedish actress, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star, Noomi Rapace has signed on for her first English-language role, the female lead in the Sherlock Holmes sequel, where she will appear alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
Rapace is definitely in a good company, and let us remind you that Warner Brothers previously announced a December 16, 2011 release date for the upcoming Guy Ritchie‘s sequel.
So, not much is known about the sequel yet, but according to some reports the plot will “involve Holmes and Watson squaring off against their arch-nemesis Moriarty.”
According to Hollywood Reporter, the movie will also mark the debut of Holmes' brother Mycroft.
Still, neither of these highly coveted roles has been cast, though Brad Pitt has long been rumored to portray Moriarty.
When it comes to Rapace's role, nothing is official at this moment, although there are already some rumors that “the character may be a French Gypsy.”
It's unclear if she will be involved in the plot as a romantic interest for any of the four male leads.
Rachel McAdams will still be present in the film as Irene Adler, but she won't be the female lead like in the last film.
As usual, stay tuned for more Sherlock Holmes 2 updates!
