Nicolas Cage was to play the villain in the highly anticipated movie “
The Green Hornet” being directed by
Michel Gondry, but the actor and the studio were not able to come to terms on a deal.
There is no word as to who will replace Nicolas Cage in the movie which has already had delays due to changes – Stephen Chow was replaced and his role as Kato has been taken over by
Jay Chou.
Columbia had no comment but according to sources “the studio is on the hunt for a new bad guy.”
There will be no photos of Nicolas Cage as villain as there were no scenes shot with Cage for the movie, which just began principal photography in Los Angeles.
Along with title character
Seth Rogen who is also one of the executive producers of the movie and co-writer of the screenplay with
Evan Goldberg also a co-executive producer, additional stars remaining in the movie are
Cameron Diaz (as Lenore Case) and Jay Chou (as Kato). Rounding out the cast will be
Edward James Olmos and
Tom Wilkinson.

The Green Hornet” was originally a 1930s radio program before, in subsequent years becoming a comic book series and a 1960s TV show in which the legendary
Bruce Lee starred as Kato, the Green Hornet's sidekick.
The movie will be released in December 2010.
