Nicholas Hoult is in negotiations to play the lead role in
Bryan Singer‘s upcoming
Jack the Giant Slayer.
We already knew that Singer has been searching for a young actor to star in his fantasy epic for a while, and now, Hoult is in negotiations to take on the role of a young farmer who leads a party into the land of the giants in order to rescue a princess.
The script is written by
Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects),
Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard) and
Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After) and, according to Deadline, Jack the Giant Killer is:
“…a scary revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk mythology and Hoult will play a farmer who leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom to rescue a kidnapped princess.
Bill Nighy,
Stanley Tucci and John Kassir were recently cast.”
Stanley Tucci recently signed on to play the villain and
Bill Nighy and
John Kassir have been cast as a two-headed giant.
Let us also remind you that in recent months, Singer has been testing some actors including Hoult,
Aaron Johnson and
Alex Pettyfer for the role of Jack.
