Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of
The Great Gatsby.
Somehow, I have a feeling that with every new photo, Luhrmann wants to tell us –
look guys, we have such a great time filming this movie, look at the cast – they all look gorgeous in their cool costumes, and yes, thanks for asking, this is going to be one hell of the movie.
Well, ok, we have nothing against his enthusiasm. After all, Luhrmann co-wrote the script together with
Craig Pearce (and just for a record, Pearce is the man who stands behind
Moulin Rouge! story as well). So we (kind of) expect to see something spectacular from the duo once again.
On the other hand, we love the fact that
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the title role – a party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby. Although, let's be honest, the rest of the cast is pretty awesome as well.
As you already know, we have
Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway who leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings.
He soon crosses paths with Gatsby and his cousin, Daisy (played by
Carey Mulligan) as well as her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan, played by
Joel Edgerton. And you also know the rest of the story – Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits…
Don't know about you, but I definitely love this tale
of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy.
