Warner Bros began to generate more buzz by landing a trailer few weeks back, and giving a January 11th release date for
Ruben Fleischer's
Gangster Squad, not to mention that rumored appearance at Cannes never happened.
Now the studio has released new images from the film set in 1940s Los Angeles, which stars
Sean Penn as real-life gangster Mickey Cohen.
The gangster movie about an elite LAPD unit also stars
Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Michael Peña, Anthony Mackie,
Giovanni Ribisi and it reunites
Ryan Gosling and
Emma Stone.
Will Beall (Castle) made his feature film scriptwriting debut, based on
Paul Lieberman's original seven-part article in the LA Times.
The great new images for your viewing pleasure you can click to enlarge. Penn looking terrific as the mob king blazing away with his Tommy gun.
We also get new looks at Brolin and Gosling as leaders of a clandestine crew of LAPD cops, and Stone as a pretty lady in a dangerous love triangle with Gosling's character and Cohen.
