Old Boy, a classic manga that keep you captivated for the entire way through will see a big screen adaptation. It was earlier revealed that the
Spike Lee-directed remake of Oldboy would rather be of the original manga comic than a remake of the 2003 Chan-wook Park's Korean revenge film.
Lee said that the cast of his Oldboy will be diverse and I think he kept his word:
Josh Brolin will play the lead character Joe (Dae-su Oh in the original), an imprisoned man who is sent on a hunt to track down those responsible for his imprisonment;
Sharlto Copley will co-star as the villain;
Samuel L. Jackson is expected to make a cameo, but crucial appearance in the film as the head of the motel where the Josh's character has been held hostage and
Elizabeth Olsen as the female lead.
Now comes word that Arbitrage star
Nate Parker has entered negotiations to reteam with his
Red Hook Summer director for Good Universe's remake.
Lee's Oldboy, penned by
Mark Protosevich, will be scoring
Bruce Hornsby, with production set to begin this fall in Louisiana and New York.
Parker would play a doctor who works with Olsen's character.
Stay tuned.
