Following
new Pixar art the first TV spot for
Monsters University aired in the United States during the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.
The promo video doesn't feature the typical look at the film, but sees the titular university and takes the form of a typical university recruitment spot … only one for creatures with fur and odd numbers of eyes.
The narrator says, promoting the college:
Your future is knocking. Open the door.
The spot was actually shown during California's New Year Rose Bowl Parade, which takes place in Pasadena, north of Los Angeles.

Dan Scanlon (Tracy) Monsters University featuring an ensemble voice cast that stars
Steve Buscemi, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, John Ratzenberger, Frank Oz, Dave Foley and
Joel Murray.
The prequel to Monsters Inc. which brings back Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan, opens June 21st, 2013.
