Disney has done it again with the release of their latest “Special Look” trailer for Moana 2, giving us a sneak peek at what promises to be another breathtaking animated adventure. Set to release on November 27, 2024, just in time for Thanksgiving, the film picks up where the beloved 2016 original left off, reuniting fans with their favorite characters while introducing thrilling new challenges.

The trailer opens with Moana, once again voiced by Auli'i Cravalho, receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. This sets her on a journey into uncharted waters, deeper into the vast oceans of Oceania, where new dangers—both human and mythological—await. With stunning visuals and epic stakes, it's clear that Moana 2 will expand the world introduced in the original film, taking viewers into long-lost waters brimming with mystery, sea monsters, and ancestral connections.

Auli'i Cravalho isn't the only familiar face returning. Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as the boisterous demigod Maui, and fan-favorite Alan Tudyk is back as the lovable, clueless rooster Hei Hei. Behind the scenes, the film is directed by David G. Derrick Jr., a Disney veteran making his directorial debut, and co-directed by Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller. The music promises to be as unforgettable as the first, featuring contributions from Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, along with Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina.
While it's hard to imagine surpassing the charm of the original Moana, this trailer suggests the sequel is prepared to hold its own. The stunning animation, deeper family dynamics, and a gripping sense of adventure make this a must-see for Disney fans of all ages.
