Walt Disney Pictures has premiered the first trailer and poster for
Craig Gillespie‘s (
Fright Night) upcoming sports drama
Million Dollar Arm, starring
Jon Hamm (
Mad Men) as a washed-up sports agent who travels to India to find the latest baseball superstars from India’s greatest cricket players.
J.B. Bernstein (Hamm), the professional baseball agent, therefore, set up the reality game show ‘The Million Dollar Arm’ with the goal of finding viable candidates for his experiment.
Hamm stars alongside
Madhur Mittal (
Slumdog Millionaire) and
Suraj Sharma (
Life of Pi), portraying Dinish Patel and Rinku Singh – the cricket pitchers who win the contest and are brought to America. JB brings them back to the U.S. to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House (
Bill Paxton).
Lake Bell and
Alan Arkin co-star in what looks to be a decent sports genre film. The idea of creating a sense of family wherever one can is a theme writer
Tom McCarthy has dealt in all of his movies, from
The Station Agent, to
The Visitor, and
Win Win.
