Since Steven Spielberg's sci-fi
Robopocalypse is postponed indefinitely, and things moving slowly on the sequel to
Snow White and the Huntsman,
Chris Hemsworth has been trying to figure out what to do next and he's attached to the Warner Bros. adventure
In the Heart of the Sea.
And since WB wouldn't be able to get production started until fall, plan is to shoot the
Michael Mann film in June before that and then jump In the Heart of the Sea after.
But let's go back to the beginning of the story and take a moment to focus on Michael Mann – the filmmaker hasn't helmed a feature in four years (last was relatively underwhelming period gangster film
Public Enemies). Now comes word from
Variety that
Collateral director is climbing back on the horse to helm a new untitled cyber thriller with Thor star in the lead.
Actually, Mann had been developing the project for over a year, co-writing the script with
Morgan Davis Foehl (
Mass Effect). The plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being, other than that the film takes place in a world of cyber threats and attacks.
As for Hemsworth, he had a busy 2012, starring in
The Cabin in the Woods, Red Dawn, The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman, and will next headline
Ron Howard‘s
Rush, which opens September 20th, 2013, followed by
Thor: The Dark World, which hits November 8th, 2013.
As for Mann, he continues to develop a handful of films including
Big Tuna, Agincourt as well as the racing flick
Go Like Hell for Fox.
Would that be ok for you?
