For all Haneke's fans out there, here comes a great news! Director's latest project
Amour, which won Palme d'Or at this year's
Cannes Film Festival, finally has the USA release date!
Guys from Sony Pictures have set December 19th, 2012 as the date for the limited release of
Michael Haneke‘s drama which stars great
Jean-Louis Trintignant and
Emmanuelle Riva in the leading roles.
In case you've missed our previous chat about this movie, check out the rest of this report…
The movie centers on Georges (Trintignant) and Anne (Riva) who are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers, and they have a daughter, played by
Isabelle Huppert, who is also a musician and lives abroad with her family.
But one day, Anne has an attack, and the couple's bond of love is severely tested. That's the part where the real life – drama actually starts…
Amour will open in New York and Los Angeles, putting it square in awards season, and as THR adds – the move makes the film eligible for consideration in all the major categories.
We have no doubts that it will be well received.
Anyone out there excited about this one, or what?
