Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is back on track. What getting back on track looks like? Well,
Michael Bay has announced that he will reunite with
Megan Fox for
TMNT via his official
website.
Bay revealed the news, writing:
TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!
Variety added that Fox has been cast as April O'Neil, longtime friend to the turtles and that Paramount met with several actresses including
Jane Levy,
Anna Kendrick, and
Elizabeth Olsen for the role.
Jonathan Liebesman will direct Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello from a screenplay by
Josh Appelbaum, Andrew Nemec, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and
John Fusco with Michael Bay producing through his Platinum Dunes banner.
Since Bay refers to the film as ‘TMNT' does that mean these will actually be teenagers and mutants as well as ninjas and turtles?
An older draft of the script indicated that the protagonists of the film would be not Renaissance artists, but Casey Jones, a security guard and amateur hockey player. The name was then
shortened from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to
Ninja Turtles. We haven't heard any word of a title change yet.
The project is expected to shoot this April in New York, for a release date of May 16th, 2014.
Fox, whose casting announcement is the first, starred in Bay's first two
Transformers movies before a falling out led to her being removed from the franchise.
Stay tuned.
