Hey guys, it's time for a little casting update! Not bad at all, trust us! According to the latest reports,
Megan Fox and and
John C. Reilly have joined the cast of the upcoming
Sacha Baron Cohen comedy, titled
The Dictator.
Familiar with this project? Yeah, of course you are, when we already wrote about the whole thing.
At this moment the most important thing is that the movie is currently shooting in New York, and for more details, as usual, check out the rest of this report.
As you already know, The Dictator reunites the Borat and Bruno actor/director duo of Sacha Baron Cohen and
Larry Charles and it follows a heroic dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy never comes to the country he lovingly tyrannizes.
It was said previously that Cohen's main character has been inspired by deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, condemned for its systematic, widespread and extremely grave violations of human rights.
However, that is no longer mentioned, although it is indeed described as heavily improvised and inspired by Saddam Hussein's novel
Zabibah and the King.
Movie has quite interesting cast on board – except Baron Cohen and above mentioned Fox and Reilly –
Anna Faris, Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, David Mandel and
Ben Kingsley also stars.
Sacha Baron Cohen plays a ruthless dictator who heads to the U.S. for a meeting at the United Nations and finds that his number two has replaced him with an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike.
As the dictator wanders the city, he meets the owner of an organic food store (Anna Faris)…She turns around his dictatorial thinking, and there's a little romance in it as well.
We'll keep an eye on this project, which is slated to hit theaters on May 16th, 2012. So, stay tuned!
