Sources told
Collider that
Matthew Vaughn is in talks with Lucasfilm to direct
Star Wars: Episode VII and that
Harrison Ford is open to the idea of reprising his role as Han Solo.
Actually, second rumor came from other source –
Entertainment Weekly. Rumors can feed other rumors so feel free to take them with a grain of salt.
Vaughn has reportedly dropped out of directing the X-Men: First Class sequel, X-Men: Days Of Future Past because he has entered negotiations to direct the upcoming Star Wars movie.
Disney is to make three new Star Wars films
after agreeing to a deal to buy
George Lucas' Lucasfilm Ltd who created the fictional Star Wars universe which began with the first film, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, in 1977.
Episode VII will be reportedly released in 2015, the first under the Disney/Lucas banner, with Episode VIII and Episode IX to follow, so should Vaughn take on the directing role this would be on a film by film basis rather than sign up for the whole three-movie project.
Ford has said he is open to reprising his role as the Han Solo character, who he last portrayed in 1983s Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Check back for more details as they become available.
