The last time
Matt Damon and
George Clooney worked together was on Ocean's Thirteen back in 2007. These long-time pals also had fun with 2005s Syriana as well as with the first two films of the profitable Ocean's trilogy.
Furthermore, Clooney produced 2009s The Informant! a black comedy starring Damon. Now comes the time for
The Monuments Men as Damon is in talks to join
the already star-studded cast of Clooney's next directorial effort.
Art historians vs. Nazis movie, The Monuments Men has a cast involved with the likes of Clooney,
Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville and
Bob Balaban — the same crew as from the Ben Affleck-directed Argo, which Clooney and
Grant Heslov produced and
Alexandre Desplat also scored.
Clooney wrote with producing partner Heslov a big-budget adaptation of Robert M. Edsel's ‘The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History,' that tells the true story of a hand-picked group of American and British art experts chosen by the U.S. government to try to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis.
Damon will next be seen in the Oscar-bait, the new contemporary drama directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) and penned by Damon along co-star
John Krasinski, which Focus Features releases wide January 4th, 2013.
