Mass Effect movie rights were officially picked up by Legendary Pictures. And yes, that means that finally this sci-fi epic set in the year 2183 is coming!
The movie is still in early development, but guys from Legendary Pics are currently in talks with script writer
Mark Protosevich (who was in charge for projects
I Am Legend, Thor, The Cell) to pen the Sci-Fi epic set in space.
Mass Effect is an action role – playing game developed by BioWare for the Xbox 360. Here's the Mass Effect synopsis: “a sci-fi epic set in the year 2183, that centers on a war hero named Commander Shepard. Shepard become embroiled in a plot that involves an extinct race of aliens, mysterious beacons, an invasion of sentient robots known as the Geth, and a rogue black-ops agent called Saren.
To make things worse, humans are third-class citizens in this future, so few want to help or trust Shepard. The main appeal of Mass Effect is how customized the play can be. Players can make their own Shepard, and design him or her down to the shape of his / her jaw and the scars on on their face.
Every mission has a number of choices, and they run the scale of godly to fascist. The outcome of the final battle weighs on how you play them all. It's tricky. And it can come back to bite you in the sequel.”
Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Avi Arad and Ari Arad will all produce the film. To ensure top Mass Effect quality, BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, as well as executive producer Casey Hudson, will all serve as executive producers.
Hudson said: “At BioWare, we've always thought of Mass Effect as having the depth, emotion and plot twists perfectly suited for an adaptation to a motion picture. With Legendary and Avi and Ari Arad attached, we believe that the Mass Effect movie will be an extraordinary entertainment event that realizes our vision for the franchise and thrills fans.”
We're expecting a lot of details about this project, especially casting news, because we guess that in this moment we all wonder who will play Commander Shepard. Make sure you stay tuned! We'll be back!
