So, you know, it's said ,
Universal has acquired
The Disciple Program in a bidding war that was settled with a mid-six figure deal by first-time screenwriter
Tyler Marceca, with
Mark Wahlberg attached to star and produce.
Furthermore,
Morten Tyldum, whose last film was Headhunters, will direct The Disciple Program.
The Manchurian Candidate-style thriller focuses on a man who begins to investigate his wife's death and finds a conspiracy that goes much deeper than he ever imagined.
Wahlberg who previously said he was interested in participating in the Headhunters remake, at least gets his wish to work with Tyldum.
The script quickly gained attention at online script review site called Script Shadow. It's been rumored that Warners made a bid on the script, but then WME signed Marceca, pulling back the script and deciding to package it first; with Walhberg and Tyldum attached, WME finally took the package out late last week.
As for Wahlberg, his last film, Contraband, was at Universal, as is his next one, Ted, set for a July 13th, 2012 release.
Stay tuned.
