Frances McDormand (
Burn After Reading) is taking on her first animated movie. The Oscar-winning actress (
Fargo) will lend her voice for the role of the villain in DreamWorks Animation's
Madagascar 3, the studio has confirmed. McDormand is represented by WME and D/F Management, mostly known for her indie work.
Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and
Jada Pinkett Smith are all set to reprise their roles.
Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and
Melman the Giraffe are still trying to go back to dear zoo in New York, and after reaching Europe in some way, they get into a traveling circus in order to go back to the USA.. McDormand will voice a goal-oriented control officer who sets out to capture the animals. In this chapter the animals bring back together with new characters to include an
Italian sea lion, a
Russian tiger and a
Latina jaguar.
Eric Darnell will direct the latest sequel. Darnell previously co-directed the first two “Madagascar” movies, which together have grossed more than $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. The franchise has also spun-off in TV with
The Penguins of Madagascar.
Noah Baumbach wrote the script with
Mireille Soria and
Mark Swift producing.
DreamWorks CEO
Jeffrey Katzenberg confirmed
Yes, we are making a Madagascar 3 now, and it will be out in the summer of 2012.”
I hope “Madagascar 3” will be the best of the series! By the way, it is quite likely to go 3D!
